{"id":8776,"date":"2016-05-13T11:54:21","date_gmt":"2016-05-13T06:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/blog\/?p=8776"},"modified":"2026-03-13T22:14:31","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T22:14:31","slug":"project-update-chilaune-school-poised-to-move-from-tlc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dorjegurung.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/project-update-chilaune-school-poised-to-move-from-tlc\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Update: Chilaune School Poised to Move from TLC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My last visit to the school had been in early March 2015 with my Swiss friends <a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/blog\/sponsorships\/nemira-committed-student-sponsorship-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael<\/a> and Elias (of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nemira.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NEMIRA<\/a>) and a fellow Xaverian, Atulya dai. At the time we had provided the school with <a href=\"https:\/\/plus.google.com\/photos\/+COMMITTEDNepal\/albums\/6125284371967853553\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">football gear<\/a>, we had finalized plans to build a multi-purpose court, thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nemira.org\/posts\/812358162132551\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">funding from NEMIRA<\/a>, and we had talked about science lab furniture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After&nbsp;that very very enjoyable visit, while Michael and Elias had returned to Switzerland, at the end of that month I had left for a <a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/a-whirlwind-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">whirlwind tour<\/a> of North-America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In less than two months, <a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/nepal-earthquake-himalayan-megaquake-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the earthquake<\/a> would strike and destroy most of the schools in Thangpalkot including Chilaune School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, luckily for Chilaune and others like <a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/blog\/2016\/05\/project-update-taltuleshwori-school-resumes-regular-classes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taltuleshwori School<\/a>, Saat Kanya School and Raithane School, non-profit organzations stepped up and funded their reconstruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I paid a visit to the school just a couple of weeks ago to see how things were.
