No Woman No Cry!!&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorjegurung.com\/blog\/about-me\/curriculum-vitae-resume\/\">previous incarnation<\/a> as a high school Chemistry teacher, I would begin a topic with a multi-media PowerPoint presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The objectives were to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>introduce the most important concept in the topic,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>get my students\u2019 imagination going,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>put the topic into wider context, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>start the topic with some\u2026laughter!!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I thought some teachers and students might find those presentations useful. So I have decided to publish&nbsp;them all here as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you didn&#8217;t know, I have already published the introductory PowerPoint presentations to the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/sciblog\/the-names-bond-chemical-bond\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bonding<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/sciblog\/speed-nothing-you-cant-take\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kinetics<\/a>\u00a0and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/sciblog\/no-chemistry-no-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Introduction to IB Diploma Chemistry presentation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The following&#8230;I have had a hard time figuring out what I used it as an introduction to. It might be an older\/earlier version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dorjegurung.com\/sciblog\/no-chemistry-no-love\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">subject introduction presentation<\/a>. Or, it could be the introduction to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorjegurung.com\/chemistry\/IB_year1\/Atomic_Structure.htm\">Atomic Structure<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, since I didn\u2019t record the presentation, my commentaries are missing. But it might be interesting (challenging?) for you to try and figure out what I must have accompanied each&nbsp;slide with!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Incidentally, when my students walked into the classroom for this particular lesson, they would have walked into a room playing <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/jGqrvn3q1oo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bob Marley&#8217;s No Woman No Cry<\/a>,&nbsp;and the first slide with just the first line projected on the whiteboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Update January 6, 2017<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Google-Drive-publish function stopped working and so, finding no alternative, I have had to convert the PowerPoint presentation into a movie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"no woman no cry\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dYVWqxTszzA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What do you think I accompanied the slides with?
