Money was a creation of man or rather humans. And the foundation of the entire system we call economics is that very human creation (or do you want to call it innovation?): money.
In other words, money was made by humans and therefore a social construct, as is economics. Founded on money, economics, among other things, involves human needing to work for money and thus making money. Humanity has become so dependent upon its own creation that there isn’t a dearth of those who view making money as a biological or teleological necessity, and therefore their sole purpose in life.
What many forget is that money has value only because humans–with the very elaborate and sophisticated cultures, systems, and structures they have built around it, above it–have made it almost indispensable, or have been systemically acculturated into believing and accepting it to be so. And worse, making insane amount of it to be a mark of “success” and “greatness”.
But of course, money does not make a man (a human being)–never has and never will.
What do you think?
