I have been tracking the Coronavirus pandemic in Nepal by keeping tracking of data about and related to it. Based on my analysis of those data, I have come to conclude that the Government of Nepal was really just pretending to fight the pandemic. Sadly, in the last few days, they appear to have given up the fight. They appear to have collapsed.
Cases in Kathmandu have been rising pretty steadily since after a week of the end of the first lockdown. As a matter of fact, they have been rising so much that the last several days they have account for about 50% of the cases in the entire country when the population of the district is less than 10%! That of course, does not bode well!
As the pandemic rages, the Government of Nepal downplays it. Far from doing everything in its power to tackle it, GoN appears to be interested more in just letting it take its course.
A reproduction of my Twitter, COVID-19 status, update for Nepal that I made on September 15. I made the update following the Government of Nepal's announcement to REDUCE testing! Of course, the data show that would be a BAD move!
A reproduction of my Twitter, COVID-19 status, update for Nepal that I made on September 10. What does the data show, as limited as haphazard as they are? I look at the progress of the pandemic from towards the third week of July, from when lockdown 1.0 was lifted.
