When I used to teach, I would begin a topic with a multi-media PowerPoint presentation. The objectives were to:
- introduce the most important concept in the topic,
- get my students’ imagination going,
- put the topic into wider context, and
- start the topic with some…laughter!!
I thought some teachers and students might find those presentations useful. So I’ll be sharing them here as well.
The following, if you have’t already guessed it, is the introduction to Chemical Bond.
Of course, since I didn’t record the presentation, my commentaries are missing. But it might be interesting (challenging?) for you to try to figure out what I must have accompanied each slide with!
Incidentally, when my students walked into the classroom for this particular lesson, they would have walked into a room playing The James Bond Theme and the first slide projected on the board without the text “Chemical Bond” underneath Daniel Craig’s James Bond! (In the schools I taught at, the students moved from one teacher’s room to the other.)
Update January 6, 2017
Google Drive publish function stopped working and so, finding no alternative, I have had to convert the PowerPoint presentation into a movie.
Any guesses as to where I might have gone with the various images in the presentation? Have a go at it below in the comment section.
Maybe you recognize one or two molecules? Why do you think they figured in this presentation?
