The Sham Authority of Tanka Dahal’s “Federation of International Journalist”

FIJA appears to be a toothless non-profit organization registered in the US. It also appears to be of, for, and by the hill so-called high caste Hindus of Nepal. It purports to champion "freedom of the press" around the world. But, pathetically, one of the recent things it did was to lend support to the work of Tanka Dahal, its General Secretary, a known purveyor of misinformation. Ironically, Dahal is also a staunch monarchist. The 250-year history of the Khas-arya monarchy in Nepal was characterized by the regime stifling rights and curtailing many freedoms, including freedom of press!

Untold History of Dassain, A Symbol of Oppression and Suppression

Dassain, a Hindu festival, is recognized and celebrated by many in Nepal as the biggest and most important national festival. As per the historian Bhagiraj Ingnam the festival has a dark history -- a history of past regimes wielding it as a tool to subjugate and control the indigenous population. As such, to many the festival is actually a symbol of oppression and suppression.

Nepali media is atrocious. Far from it being the fourth pillar of democracy, it panders to the those who are responsible for making the country a failed State. And that's only ONE of the many issues with them.

There's a very good reason for that. No different from those that make up the other three pillars of democracy and pretty much every other structure of any import, Nepali media is of, for, and by Khas-arya men. And that conclusion is based on data.

Nepal, where keeping your friends happy is more important than defending the country’s constitution

Relationships matter a great deal in Nepal, which, in and of itself, is not necessarily a bad thing. But when a relationship, like friendship, trumps doing the right thing to fend off attack on a freedom guaranteed by the constitution, and therefore on one of the very foundations on which democracy rests, something has gone horrible wrong somewhere.
